Privacy Policy

Summary

Spare Yard works out what fabric to buy for a quilt and how to cut it. There is no account, no sign-in and no ads. Your plans stay on your device. The only thing the app sends anywhere is anonymous usage analytics, described below.

What Stays on Your Device

Everything you enter stays on the device you entered it on: your plans, pieces and layouts, your fabric details (name, manufacturer, line, colour, shop, price and notes), your selvage photos, your cutting progress and your settings. We have no server that receives any of it. There is no iCloud sync in this version, so a plan lives only on the device where you made it.

Selvage Photos and the Camera

You can add a photo of a fabric's selvage, either by taking one with the camera or by picking one from your photo library. The app asks for camera access only when you choose to take a selvage photo, and uses the camera for nothing else. Picking from your library goes through Apple's photo picker, which gives the app only the photo you choose.

The app reads the text printed on the selvage (manufacturer, designer, colour number) on your device, using Apple's Vision framework, and offers what it finds as suggestions you can accept or ignore. The photo is not uploaded, and the text read from it is not sent anywhere.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

Spare Yard uses Mixpanel for anonymous product analytics, so we can see which parts of the app get used and where people get stuck.

Mixpanel receives usage events, such as a plan being created, the unlock screen being shown, a purchase, and cutting mode being completed. Each event carries the app version, the device type, and a random identifier the app creates for analytics. That identifier is not linked to your name, your email, your Apple Account or anything else about you.

Mixpanel does not receive your name or email address, your advertising identifier, your plans, your fabric details, your photos, or anything you type. Spare Yard does not track you across other apps or websites, and the analytics data is not used for advertising.

Purchases

The calculators and your first full plan are free. A one-time in-app purchase adds more plans, cutting mode and the printable cutting sheet. The purchase goes through Apple and the App Store, and we never receive your payment details.

The Spare Yard Web Page

The page at apps.9592.tech/quilt links to Spare Yard on the App Store. The link goes straight to Apple, not through our server, so following it records nothing on our side. Before the app came out, the page had an "I'd use this" button instead. Pressing it added one to a count for that day, and we stored only the count: no email address, no IP address, no cookie, no identifier and nothing else about you. The page loads no analytics or tracking scripts.

Your Rights

Spare Yard is developed by 9592 Solutions UG (haftungsbeschränkt), based in Germany. Under the GDPR you have the right to access and erase any personal data a controller holds about you. Your plans, fabric details and photos never reach our servers, so deleting the app erases them. For the anonymous analytics, email support@9592.tech and we can request deletion of the events linked to your anonymous identifier on a best-effort basis.
